Here are the general steps to follow for replacing the cables on a Spadone garage door:

1. Open the garage door and secure it with a clamp in front of a roller.

The door springs are then at rest, allowing you to work safely.

2. To facilitate reassembly, we recommend taking a photo of the self-tightening knot or the fastening system at the end of the cable.

3. Measure the distance from the ground to the axis of the movable pulley (pulley mounted at the end of the springs on a triangular support fixed at about mid-height).

4. Remove the cable loop attached at the bottom of the garage door.

5. Disassemble the self-tightening knot and completely remove the cable from the upper and movable pulleys.

6. Replace the new cable by retracing your steps.

For a Spadone sectional door, this involves:

• attaching the loop at the bottom of the door
• passing over the upper fixed pulley (from the front to the back of the pulley)
• passing the cable at the level of the movable pulley (from behind the pulley to the front)
• moving up to the perforated plate and redoing the self-tightening knot

7. By adjusting the cable length at the self-tightening knot, position the movable pulley at its initial measurement. If you don't have a self-tightening knot, it may be necessary to cut the cable to the correct length and use the provided lead to re-crimp it.

8. You can then remove the clamp and test your garage door manually several times to check its proper balance. You can then re-engage the motor.
